Jeryl Lee

Jeryl Lee Pei Ling ( Chinese : 李佩玲; born 23 May 2000) is a Malaysian female singer, originally from Rifle Range, Penang . Throughout his singing career, he was heavily involved in various local and international singing competitions.

Career

Jeryl Lee started showing interest in music since she was 10 years old. [2] In 2012, he participated in the second edition of Chinese Million Stars and became the only Malaysian singer invited to the stadium. [3]

In 2014, he participated in the Watercube Singing Contest for Overseas Chinese Teenagers , winning the competition and also as the youngest participant. [4]

Lee became one of the contestants of the eighth season of China Dream Show in the same year, singing the song “Brave” by Zhang Huimei. He stated his dream was to find a music teacher in China to teach him to sing. Zhou Libo suggested music producer Huang Yi, who had composed songs for famous singers, compose a song for him. He got 289 votes (300 for the full vote and 240 to realize his dream).

In 2016, Jeryl participated in Sing! China the first season, won the Team Naying tournament, and became the top six students. He sang again “Let it Go”; he was also the most popular foreign student of the season. [4]

He signed a contract with OnMuse in November 2016. His first studio album, SAY.Listen, was released on 21 April 2018. He then held his first tour which took place at Bukit Jalil National Stadium , Kuala Lumpur . [5] [6]

In the same year, Jeryl Lee was invited to sing the theme song “We Are The Ones” for ASEAN Cultural Week 2018 and became the first Malaysian singer to undergo a music video shoot in Beijing .

Jeryl collaborated with violinist, Dennis Lau through a song titled “I Wanna Be Free”, which was produced based on his free-spirited personality. It was released in June 2019. [7]

He also made a success of the MySista tour concert with Masya Masyitah which was held in October and December 2019 in Genting Highlands , Pahang . [8]

On August 5, 2020, he appeared with a single, “Respect 1000000” released to appreciate the contribution of frontline workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic ( COVID-19 ). Jeryl was awarded The BrandLaureate Country e-Branding Awards, this win made her, who is only 20 years old, the first Malaysian Chinese singer to receive an award for her performance. [9]
